Session: Towards Building Dementia Knowledgeable Teams
The increase in the number of people diagnosed with dementia is not only increasing in the general population but also impacts people with an intellectual disability. The provision of quality dementia supports requires a well-trained and knowledgeable workforce. In order to address this need, the NTG-CANADA Consortium offered the NTG Dementia Capable Support of Adults with Intellectual Disabilities & Dementia curriculum in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Thornhill, Ontario and Victoria, B.C. This presentation will provide an overview of the curriculum, including the three-day Provincial Trainer option, and some initial evaluation results from the training. There will also be recommendations for moving forward.
