Michael Baker, Teacher
Michael is a graduate student at the University of Manitoba completing his Master’s thesis in Inclusive Education entitled: Multi-Sensory Environments: A Qualitative Exploration. His final defense is set for July 15, 2019 and he will be a PhD student starting in September 2019 at the University of Manitoba. Michael is also a high school Student Service Teacher (Special Education/Inclusive Education Teacher). He has been teaching for seven years in Manitoba.

Disability studies offers a rich and multifaceted approach, exploring discrimination, human rights and inclusive education. Nevertheless, Disability studies is under-explored or nonexistent in Manitoba high schools today. Seeking to foster equality through education, this presentation will explore the role disability studies can play when looking at inclusive education and exploring ‘Introduction to Disability Studies’.
